Nikolai Kapustin, a consular representative, told KazanFirst that they are working to gather more details from local authorities. “We are aware of the situation and are trying to get official information from local authorities,” Kapustin said.

Local police have launched an investigation, but no arrests have been made at this time. Authorities believe the suspects may have been involved in a dispute with the couple before resorting to violence.
